Nine Best Aussie Love Scenes

November 15th 2006 15:41
Duke & Leon's Christmas Special
Duke & Leon's Christmas Special

I’ve gone for love scenes but also include sex scenes – because without love, sex is just great. Or a love scene without sex is sexier. Or you can fake love but not sex.

No particular order:

The couch scene in Love Serenade, 1996
Alvin Purple,1973 – the whole thing
The hand-relief scene in Patrick, 1978
The rotor scene in Candy, 2006
The fruitsalad scene in Fantasm, 1976
Trouser scene in Japanese Story, 2003
Australia After Dark, 1974 – the whole thing
Bathroom scene in Felicity, 1979
Jack Thompson all through Petersen, 1974

Ok, so there’s more sex than love but hey, I’ve got a thing about smutty. Or rather, smutty has a thing about me.
And what is it with Jack Thompson? I liked him in Sunday to Far Away and he drinks Resches.
I guess what I’m saying is; that love/sex scenes are important. You can’t really call yourself a film-maker unless you’ve shot a good one.
And you can’t really say you’ve lived until you’ve been in love. Or at least had good sex. Or bad sex in a car.
Yeah, I’m joking – how can you have bad sex in a car.
Anyway, there was a time in Aussie film-making when there would be a sex/love scene in the first five minutes. Or at least some nudity. Then it all changed. They got all sophisticated.

Well I’m old-school. That’s why there’s a nude scene in the first five minutes of Bloodspit.
You can see the trailer;

And yes, for everyone who asked; Jed will be in the Christmas special.

Until next time and happy film-making.

Hi Fish,

Bad Boy Bubby had some memorable love/sex scenes from memory. Bubby's seduction by the Salvation Army girl and his perverse, almost graphic sexual encounters with his obese, aged mother. And it does have a gratuitous rape scene as well - a vicious prison rape no less. Now that's good convict lovin'. (Maybe you have to shoot a rape scene as well before you can call yourself a filmmaker?)

I know it's not an Aussie film but Mulholland Drive does has an Aussie actress in one of the hottest sex scenes ever between Naomi Watts and the mysterious brunette.

kryz.

Hey Fish

This is a great question but I can't think of any answers at the moment....I'll come back to you tomorrow,

Tracy
