First date films

First date
First date

Dating is never pretty. There is method to the madness but ultimately you have to curb your enthusiasm and do the research.
There’s your fantasy partner and the real world – choose wisely because life is a long journey, rather than 20 minutes in the back of a Ford Falcon smudging upholstery.

Anyway, watching a carefully selected movie will help you analyse any participant in your quest for the ideal partner, ultimately the journey you want to find yourself strapped into will be long and interesting. As apposed to an eternal hellish nightmare – like Mr & Mrs Mutual Hate next door…
Maybe that’s just where I live.
Anyway;

finding a boyfriend

Beaches
– Most men will not sit through this movie easily. If he laughs uncontrollably he’s probably going to be less than sensitive and he’ll get worse with age. If he cries, that’s not all good – it may seem cool to hook up with someone in touch with their feminine side but it’s expensive having a partner that’s practically useless.

Kiss of the Spiderwoman
- A man confused at the end of this film may be sending you a message. That message could be something like; everything will be fine until I reach forty. Be aware and be scared.

Topgun
- Many men will watch and enjoy this because who wouldn’t want to play with vehicles that big, that fast and have someone else picking up the fuel bill. But any man who relates to Tom Cruise is trouble. Not in the sense that he might not be all man – more in the way that he’d get lost in a McDonalds outlet.

finding a girlfriend

Sleepless in Seattle
- If after seeing this film your date says something like;
“That was so sweet…”
Alarm bells should be ringing. Check her bedroom, I bet there are fluffy toys on the bed.

A Clockwork Orange
- Heavy to sit through on a first date. If she’s shocked that’s a good sign, but the purpose of seeing this film is to let you ask;
“There’s no-one in your family like that is there?”

Thelma and Louise
- I have no issue with feminism. And any man who wants a pretty apron-wearing wife throwing donuts at him over the Forman-fat-free-grill is an idiot. But let me tell you this – women who are comfortable with the use of firearms are to be feared. I once met this criminologist. He told me that female serial killers are far more common than their male counterparts. I told him I’d heard of a lot more male serial killers…and he said;
“That’s my point – the women never get caught.”
How scary is that?

Happy partner hunting.

Until next time and happy film-making.
