Film, Beer and Poetry
February 9th 2007 03:23
Everyone loves Jed Hendrix.
When Duke and me made Duke & Leon’s Film School for TVS in Sydney the big winner was Duke’s brother Jed. He’s a hit, especially with the ladies.
I’ve been working with poetry for a few years now – talk about pushing shit up hill. But apparently if you get a big guy covered in tattoos to do it – that’s sensitive – that’s a hit.
Anyway, go Jed.
the warrior within
by Jed Hendrix
In the jungle of pain
I breathe deeply and pray
Are you an angel sent from Allah?
Or a Presbyterian driving your armoured vehicle of dogma?
I look within and see him
A little boy
Scared
Alone
Naked (but not…you know)
I stroke his back
And tell him
It’s alright
He is rigid
But ready
Yes we cry in unison
And release the warrior within
Probably more significant to mankind than poetry… beer.

Looking to make a tasty traditional ale, VB has hit the go-go. Even the bottle has that old-school jazz that yells;
you can’t make real beer and be a cry-baby at the same time.
Much like film-making.
Until next time and happy film-making.
