Beer And Film-making
December 14th 2006 10:20
Cheers.
Is beer important? Absolutely. I regard it as my oldest friend.
And beer is a lot like film-making.
People are always offering me boutique beers. Being polite, I never refuse. The thing is, after about three the novelty starts to wear thin. Whereas with a good subtle larger you could happily drink all night. As I have been known to do.
Connection with their audience.
I remember at a screening of The Killbillies, during the alien birth scene, the ninety people in the small cinema where screaming. Uncontrollably.
And when the film finished there was stunned silence. I felt much the same as the scientists after the first nuclear bomb test. I said to Duke;
“What the hell have we created?”
I’m still not sure, but whatever we did, it’s moved on from there.
By the way, one other important thing I learnt at the Cannes Film Festival;
Pelforth Brune – now that’s one fine beer.
Until next time and happy film-making.
