Boy in The Killbillies
Back in the good ol’ days when we were just about to start filming The Killibillies I got this phone call. Duke was saying he hadn’t heard back from Holly and filming started in a week. Holly Delasandro was our female lead. I left messages on her phone and finally she called me back. She wanted to pull out. I love Holly – love her work and respected her position, but it left us big-time in the lurch.
“How about I play her role as well as the brother, only we join the two together. Half man/half woman – like this freaky Siamese twin shit…”
That’s what we did. History is our judge as to whether it worked. But my point is; that to truly call yourself an actor there seems to be this unwritten rule that you have to do porn or at least a gender swap. Don’t ask me why.
Anyway, here’s my list of the best male dress-ups and the worst.
